Not only will Capitol Debate students learn new skills through our programs; they will feel an increase in self-worth, learn critical thinking skills and improve public speaking and communication skills with their peers. Two weeks at camp will result in lifelong friendships and memories that will resonate with our students throughout their academic, personal and professional careers. Campers return to our program year after year because of how life-changing our Summer Debate Camps prove to be. Our parents will tell you themselves that they proudly stand by their investment in Capitol Debate because of the impact it has had on their families.
The camp is run by very professional staff and seems carefully organized to provide teenagers with a perfect blend of fun and academic challenge, with long-lasting impact. Their peers were amazing kids and the counselors are truly dedicated.
Capitol Debate is an amazing place to make new friends and have fun as well as developing new skills that really make an impact on the way you debate. This is definitely a place that I would want to come back to next year.
Great introduction to public speaking, overcoming nerves, and gaining confidence. Our daughter amazed us at her final debate....her demeanor and confidence brought me to tears. She said everyone...instructors and students were all so nice. Just an awesome experience!
This debate camp has made me confident, and helped me hone on my debate skills. I effectively learned how to structure a persuasive piece of writing and deliver it eloquently.
Capitol Debate is more than just a summer camp and debate program; it's a family. I love Capitol because it builds a community of driven, intelligent students that want to use their voice to effectuate change in any field they choose to pursue. Capitol Debate fosters the building of communication, analytical, and research skills; but most of all, Capitol provides students with friendships and a community that they will cherish forever.
This training builds useful verbal communication skills and instills confidence to try different verbal styles that most kids should have.
I think that Capitol Debate is a great place to learn how to debate, and that it teaches students while letting them have fun.
I had never considered myself to be able to become good at public speaking, but I think that I've improved a lot here. I've made lots of new friends, and I'm amazed on how close we all got and how much I'll miss them all. Also, the staff is amazing!
Capitol Debate is not just a camp. It is a life changing experience that helps improve your debate skills while making a ton of new friends.
I'm also thankful for all the staff's efforts and caring. We talked with our son every day and could see he was adjusting to the dorm life well with the caring RAs. Whenever I emailed Rachel, she replied to me right away with detailed information that I exactly needed. I also appreciate the nurse for taking care of our son when he had a nose bleeding (due to seasonal allergy) several times during the first few days of the camp. Certainly Capitol Debate camp provides experience and education that students cannot have from their school.
