data from 2017 parent survey
Not only will Capitol Debate students learn new skills through our programs; they will feel an increase in self-worth, learn critical thinking skills and improve public speaking and communication skills with their peers. Two weeks at camp will result in lifelong friendships and memories that will resonate with our students throughout their academic, personal and professional careers. Campers return to our program year after year because of how life-changing our Summer Debate Camps prove to be. Our parents will tell you themselves that they proudly stand by their investment in Capitol Debate because of the impact it has had on their families.
Capitol Debate helped me since last year, and this year. I have learned so much, learning how to speak well, learning how to write cases well, and learning to be a team. I want to have a shoutout to Victor, as he is the greatest person!
Camp has provided me with a basic debate foundation to build off of in my potential later debate experiences. Not only were the games and activities enjoyable, but the classes and lectures were as well. I have had an incredible camp experience and am so grateful for the opportunity to attend.
My son Christopher has been going to the debate camp for four years, and my daughter Rachael has been there for three years. They enjoy the camp more and more every year. They admire their coaches and leaders. The kids are reserved and competitive. This is the best environment for their Summer Camp. They are always excited about meeting their friends at the camp. When their regular school ends in mid June, they would ask, mom, are we going to the debate camp this year? I can feel the excitement in them that they are chatting with their friends on the East Coast and notifying them that they are coming. My kids are happy and enjoy the camp very much.
This debate camp has made me confident, and helped me hone on my debate skills. I effectively learned how to structure a persuasive piece of writing and deliver it eloquently.
It is a really fun summer camp, kids can learn some interesting topics that school education does not offer. Very good experience!
I think that Capitol Debate is a great place to learn how to debate, and that it teaches students while letting them have fun.
At Capitol Debate Seton Hall, I was included and I wasn't left out. So many people there were kind and they took chances on strangers. It taught me to take a chance on strangers, to befriend as many people as I can, even if I'm in a competitive environment. It taught me to never let my negative judgements decide who I should befriend and who I should ignore.
The students that are adamant in coming, will find themselves empowered when they learn what they can do with their voice.
My time at capitol debate was incredible, and the quality of teaching and fun was the reason I came back.
It is worth it to give the kids a try and to have them experience the new camp, it will benefit them a lot and they will love it. My daughter loves it so much and she did learn something new to her which helps her a lot when she starts to get into high school this year. Because they can learn not only debate skills, but they built up great relationships with the coaches and other students.
