At Middle School Debate Camp level, students will learn the fundamentals of public speaking and argumentation, enabling them to develop core presentation and debating skills that boost confidence and self-esteem. Students at the High School Debate Camp level will work on effective public speaking and argumentation, allowing them to further advance their presentation and debate skills to prepare them for the real world. The best way to promote in-depth understanding of Lincoln Douglas concepts and positions is through application and skill-building exercises. Students apply the many concepts they are introduced to in lecture labs by utilizing a variety of drills, speaking exercises, mini debates, and practice debates to emphasize and reinforce the lessons learned.Find out more
The High School Debate Camp teaches students the key processes of effective debate such as case construction, composing briefs, research, rebuttals, cross-fire, evidence analysis, and summary and final focus. Our STEM Communications camp provides students with the tools to become formidable leaders within STEM fields. Our program focuses on core communications, analytical research, critical thinking, and mathematical modeling skills. Students are encouraged to bring their past research and projects (i.e. innovative ideas or research) to our program. At camp, students will work with their cohort review group to prepare and deliver presentations at the conclusion of our program which aim to persuade, educate, and inform their audiences.Find out more
Rookie debaters will first be introduced to public speaking. Students will prepare, organize, and present a speech in front of their peers. Our experience has shown that such exercises best develop, stretch, and solidify a child's understanding and grow their abilities in the core skills we are teaching. Rookie debaters will also be introduced to the foundational principles of debate such as structuring an argument, backing it with evidence, researching, writing cases, and planning defenses.Find out more
The goal of our day camps is to teach debate students the basics of argument and develop communication skills, problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and increased self-esteem. They are not as rigorous as our corresponding overnight academic camps, so they are the perfect opening for new debaters.Find out more
The Introduction to Public Speaking workshops, held at our debate camps, guide children through the techniques of public speaking, helping them to discover the gift of communication. They will learn to present a polished speech before their peers. They will go through exercises and practice sessions to develop delivery skills such as vocal variety, articulation, and voice projection. The Intermediate Public Speaking for kids takes them further. They will learn more advanced techniques and how to write and deliver different forms of speech. All children want to shine amongst their peers. Our teachers are highly skilled and creative in cultivating children's communication skills.
